The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2021 figures, exports increased by +82.1% against 2016 indices. As a result, the exports attained the peak and are likely to continue growth in the immediate term.

The shipments of the six major exporters of granules, chippings and powder of marble, namely Austria, Turkey, Vietnam, Italy, Croatia and Slovenia, represented more than two-thirds of total export. The following exporters - the Czech Republic (X tons), Greece (X tons), Norway (X tons), Russia (X tons), Mexico (X tons), the Netherlands (X tons) and Canada (X tons) - together made up 17% of total exports.
From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of shipments, amongst the leading exporting countries, was attained by Vietnam (with a CAGR of +87.3%), while the other global leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
In value terms, the largest marble granules and powder supplying countries worldwide were Austria ($X), Vietnam ($X) and Italy ($X), together comprising 46% of global exports.
Vietnam, with a CAGR of +86.2%, recorded the highest growth rate of the value of exports, in terms of the main exporting countries over the period under review, while shipments for the other global leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
Export Prices by Country
The average marble granules and powder export price stood at $X per ton in 2021, increasing by 4.7% against the previous year. Over the period from 2012 to 2021, it increased at an average annual rate of +1.7%. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2020 when the average export price increased by 14%. The global export price peaked in 2021 and is likely to continue growth in years to come.
There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major exporting countries. In 2021, amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was the Netherlands ($X per ton), while Norway ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.

Imports
In 2021, the amount of granules, chippings and powder of marble imported worldwide amounted to X tons, growing by 6.7% on 2020. The total import volume increased at an average annual rate of +1.6% from 2012 to 2021; the trend pattern remained relatively stable, with somewhat noticeable fluctuations in certain years. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2018 when imports increased by 13%. Global imports peaked in 2021 and are likely to see steady growth in the near future.
In value terms, marble granules and powder imports surged to $X in 2021. In general, imports saw a relatively flat trend pattern. As a result, imports reached the peak and are likely to continue growth in the immediate term.
Imports by Country
In 2021, Germany (X tons) was the major importer of granules, chippings and powder of marble, mixing up 27% of total imports. Austria (X tons) held the second position in the ranking, followed by Finland (X tons), Sweden (X tons), Poland (X tons) and Belgium (X tons). All these countries together took near 32% share of total imports. The following importers - Italy (X tons), the United States (X tons), Tunisia (X tons), Bangladesh (X tons), France (X tons), Canada (X tons) and Ukraine (X tons) - together made up 17% of total imports.
Imports into Germany decreased at an average annual rate of -2.5% from 2012 to 2021. At the same time, Bangladesh (+47.7%), Austria (+29.2%), Finland (+25.6%), Italy (+22.4%), Canada (+17.7%), France (+14.8%), the United States (+7.0%) and Poland (+2.1%) displayed positive paces of growth. Moreover, Bangladesh emerged as the fastest-growing importer imported in the world, with a CAGR of +47.7% from 2012-2021. By contrast, Ukraine (-2.3%), Tunisia (-2.7%), Sweden (-2.8%) and Belgium (-6.1%) illustrated a downward trend over the same period. While the share of Austria (+7.8 p.p.), Finland (+6.4 p.p.), Italy (+3.4 p.p.) and Bangladesh (+2 p.p.) increased significantly in terms of the global imports from 2012-2021, the share of Sweden (-3.1 p.p.), Belgium (-4.8 p.p.) and Germany (-12.1 p.p.) displayed negative dynamics. The shares of the other countries remained relatively stable throughout the analyzed period.
In value terms, Germany ($X) constitutes the largest market for imported granules, chippings and powder of marble worldwide, comprising 28% of global imports. The second position in the ranking was held by Austria ($X), with an 8% share of global imports. It was followed by Finland, with a 7.5% share.
From 2012 to 2021, the average annual rate of growth in terms of value in Germany totaled -3.4%. In the other countries, the average annual rates were as follows: Austria (+29.0% per year) and Finland (+21.4% per year).
Import Prices by Country
The average marble granules and powder import price stood at $X per ton in 2021, with an increase of 8.4% against the previous year. In general, the import price, however, continues to indicate a slight curtailment. Global import price peaked at $X per ton in 2014; however, from 2015 to 2021, import prices failed to regain momentum.
There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major importing countries. In 2021, amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was France ($X per ton), while Canada ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.
