The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2016 when exports increased by 40% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the exports reached the peak figure in 2021 and are expected to retain growth in years to come.

Bangladesh (X tons) was the main destination for marble granules and powder exports from India, accounting for a 67% share of total exports. Moreover, marble granules and powder exports to Bangladesh exceeded the volume sent to the second major destination, Nepal (X tons), sixfold. The third position in this ranking was taken by Sri Lanka (X tons), with a 5.5% share.

From 2012 to 2021, the average annual growth rate of volume to Bangladesh amounted to +40.8%. Exports to the other major destinations recorded the following average annual rates of exports growth: Nepal (+1.8% per year) and Sri Lanka (+40.1% per year).

The second position in the ranking was held by Sri Lanka ($X), with a 16% share of total exports. It was followed by the United Arab Emirates, with a 9.6% share.

In 2021, after two years of decline, there was significant growth in overseas purchases of granules, chippings and powder of marble, when their volume increased by 62,101% to X tons. Overall, imports, however, faced a dramatic setback. Over the period under review, imports attained the maximum at X tons in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2021, imports stood at a somewhat lower figure.
