Watermelon Price in Turkey (FOB) - 2022
In 2022, the average watermelon export price amounted to $306 per ton, jumping by 26% against the previous year. Over the last decade, it increased at an average annual rate of +1.7%. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2020 when the average export price increased by 41% against the previous year. The export price peaked in 2022 and is likely to see steady growth in years to come.
Prices varied noticeably by country of destination: amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Russia ($527 per ton), while the average price for exports to Georgia ($31 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Austria (+5.4%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.
Watermelon Price in Turkey (CIF) - 2023
In July 2023, the average watermelon import price amounted to $665 per ton, which is down by -44% against the previous month. Overall, the import price, however, posted a tangible increase. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in June 2023 when the average import price increased by 625% m-o-m. As a result, import price reached the peak level of $1,187 per ton, and then dropped notably in the following month.
There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major supplying countries. In July 2023, the country with the highest price was Sudan ($704 per ton), while the price for Egypt ($400 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From September 2022 to July 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Iran (+25.7%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced more modest paces of growth.
