Mandarins Price in Germany (CIF) - 2023

In July 2023, the average mandarins import price amounted to $1,958 per ton, reducing by -18.5% against the previous month. Overall, import price indicated a pronounced increase from July 2022 to July 2023: its price increased at an average monthly rate of +2.7% over the last twelve-month period. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on July 2023 figures, mandarins import price increased by +24.7% against May 2023 indices. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in June 2023 when the average import price increased by 53% against the previous month. As a result, import price attained the peak level of $2,404 per ton, and then contracted rapidly in the following month.

Average prices varied noticeably amongst the major supplying countries. In July 2023, the country with the highest price was Spain ($2,083 per ton), while the price for the Netherlands totaled $1,912 per ton.

From July 2022 to July 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Spain (+2.9%).

Mandarins Price in Germany (FOB) - 2022

The average mandarins export price stood at $1,416 per ton in 2022, which is down by -3.8% against the previous year. Over the last five-year period, it increased at an average annual rate of +2.5%. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2020 an increase of 14%. Over the period under review, the average export prices attained the maximum at $1,472 per ton in 2021, and then declined modestly in the following year.

As there is only one major export destination, the average price level is determined by prices for Turkey.

From 2017 to 2022, the rate of growth in terms of prices for Turkey amounted to +60.3% per year.

Mandarins Imports in Germany

For the fourth year in a row, Germany recorded growth in purchases abroad of fruit, edible, which increased by 16% to 159K tons in 2022. The total import volume increased at an average annual rate of +14.0% from 2019 to 2022; however, the trend pattern indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2020 with an increase of 20%. Over the period under review, imports reached the peak figure in 2022 and are expected to retain growth in years to come.

In value terms, mandarins imports expanded to $251M in 2022. Over the period under review, total imports indicated a significant expansion from 2019 to 2022: its value increased at an average annual rate of +22.6% over the last three-year period. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, imports increased by +84.2% against 2019 indices. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2020 with an increase of 56%. Over the period under review, imports hit record highs in 2022 and are likely to see steady growth in the near future.
