Citrus Fruit Market Size in Germany

The German citrus fruit market reached $X in 2020, picking up by X% against the previous year. In value terms, citrus fruit exports fell significantly to $X in 2020. Over the period under review, exports showed a relatively flat trend pattern. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2008 with an increase of X% y-o-y. Over the period under review, exports reached the maximum at $X in 2013; however, from 2014 to 2020, exports failed to regain the momentum.

Poland (X tonnes), Finland (X tonnes) and the Czech Republic (X tonnes) were the main destinations of citrus fruit exports from Germany, with a combined X% share of total exports. These countries were followed by Austria, Slovakia, Spain, Denmark, France, Switzerland, the Netherlands, Sweden, Italy and Slovenia, which together accounted for a further X 2007 to 2020, the most notable rate of growth in terms of shipments, amongst the main countries of destination, was attained by Slovenia, while exports for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

In value terms, Finland ($X), Poland ($X) and Austria ($X) were the largest markets for citrus fruit exported from Germany worldwide, with a combined X% share of total exports. These countries were followed by the Czech Republic, Switzerland, Slovakia, Denmark, Spain, France, Sweden, the Netherlands, Italy and Slovenia, which together accounted for a further X recorded the highest rates of growth with regard to the value of exports, among the main countries of destination over the period under review, while shipments for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

The average citrus fruit export price stood at $X per tonne in 2020, standing approx. at the previous year. Over the last thirteen years, it increased at an average annual rate of +X%. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2008 when the average export price increased by X% against the previous year. The export price peaked at $X per tonne in 2018; however, from 2019 to 2020, export prices stood at a somewhat lower figure.

There were significant differences in the average prices for the major overseas markets. In 2020, the country with the highest price was Sweden ($X per tonne), while the average price for exports to Slovenia ($X per tonne) was amongst the lowest.

From 2007 to 2020, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Sweden, while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.

In general, imports continue to indicate a relatively flat trend pattern. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2015 when imports increased by X% y-o-y. Imports peaked at X tonnes in 2019, and then contracted significantly in the following year.

In value terms, citrus fruit imports fell to $X in 2020. The total import value increased at an average annual rate of +X% over the period from 2007 to 2020; the trend pattern remained consistent, with somewhat noticeable fluctuations throughout the analyzed period. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2008 when imports increased by X% year-to-year. Imports peaked at $X in 2018; however, from 2019 to 2020, imports failed to regain the momentum.
