In 2020, the German grapefruit market increased by X% to $X, rising for the second year in a row after five years of decline. Overall, consumption, however, saw a relatively flat trend pattern. Exports peaked at X tonnes in 2010; however, from 2011 to 2020, exports stood at a somewhat lower figure.

In value terms, grapefruit exports reached $X in 2020. In general, total exports indicated a moderate increase from 2007 to 2020: its value increased at an average annual rate of +X% over the last thirteen-year period. The Netherlands, Romania, Bulgaria, Finland, France, Hungary and Sweden lagged somewhat behind, together accounting for a further X 2007 to 2020, the biggest increases were in Bulgaria, while shipments for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

In value terms, Poland ($X), the Czech Republic ($X) and Slovakia ($X) appeared to be the largest markets for grapefruit exported from Germany worldwide, with a combined X% share of total exports. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2008 when the average export price increased by X% against the previous year. As a result, export price reached the peak level of $X per tonne. from 2009 to 2020, the growth in terms of the average export prices remained at a somewhat lower figure.

There were significant differences in the average prices for the major export markets. In 2020, the country with the highest price was Sweden ($X per tonne), while the average price for exports to Bulgaria ($X per tonne) was amongst the lowest.

From 2007 to 2020, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Sweden, while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.
