Viet Nam has always been the largest exporter of pepper; in 2015, however, the country was forced to step up imports due to a cutback in production.
Global exports showed steady growth over the last few years, with mild fluctuations over the period under review. In 2015, global pepper export expanded to X thousand tonnes. In value terms, global exports of pepper grew by +X% per year from 2007 to 2015, amounting to X million USD in 2015. In 2015, the main global suppliers of pepper were Viet Nam (X%) and then Indonesia (X%), Brazil (X%) and India (X%). From 2007 to 2015, Viet Nam and Indonesia had the highest annual rate of growth in terms of exports amongst the leaders, with +X% and +X%, respectively.
