In 2021, the Norwegian piper pepper market increased by 10% to $X, rising for the second consecutive year after two years of decline. Over the period under review, consumption, however, recorded a relatively flat trend pattern. The total import volume increased at an average annual rate of +3.1% from 2012 to 2021; the trend pattern remained relatively stable, with somewhat noticeable fluctuations in certain years. From 2017 to 2021, the average import prices failed to regain momentum.

Prices varied noticeably country of origin: the country with the highest price was Sri Lanka ($X per ton), while the price for the United Arab Emirates ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.
