The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2018 with an increase of 89% against the previous year. The exports peaked in 2021 and are likely to see gradual growth in years to come.
In value terms, piper pepper exports soared to $X in 2021. In general, exports, however, saw a slight slump. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2015 when exports increased by 65%. The exports peaked at $X in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2021, the exports failed to regain momentum.

Romania (X tons), Vietnam (X tons) and the United States (X tons) were the main destinations of piper pepper exports from China, together comprising 49% of total exports.
From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of shipments, amongst the main countries of destination, was attained by Romania (with a CAGR of +317.0%), while the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
In value terms, the United States ($X), Vietnam ($X) and Romania ($X) constituted the largest markets for piper pepper exported from China worldwide, with a combined 45% share of total exports.
Romania, with a CAGR of +336.7%, recorded the highest rates of growth with regard to the value of exports, among the main countries of destination over the period under review, while shipments for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

In 2021, the average piper pepper export price amounted to $X per ton, rising by 3.1% against the previous year. Overall, the export price, however, saw a pronounced decrease. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2017 an increase of 30%. As a result, the export price attained the peak level of $X per ton. Prices varied noticeably country of destination: the country with the highest price was the United States ($X per ton), while the average price for exports to the United Arab Emirates ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.

Imports into China
In 2021, supplies from abroad of piper pepper decreased by -38% to X tons for the first time since 2017, thus ending a three-year rising trend. Overall, imports, however, showed a buoyant increase. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2019 with an increase of 140% against the previous year. Over the period under review, imports hit record highs at X tons in 2020, and then dropped notably in the following year.
In value terms, piper pepper imports reduced sharply to $X in 2021. In general, imports, however, saw a buoyant increase. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2014 when imports increased by 126%. Imports peaked at $X in 2020, and then dropped rapidly in the following year.

Indonesia (X tons), Vietnam (X tons) and Brazil (X tons) were the main suppliers of piper pepper imports to China, with a combined 90% share of total imports.
From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of purchases, amongst the main suppliers, was attained by Brazil (with a CAGR of +49.2%), while imports for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
In value terms, the largest piper pepper suppliers to China were Indonesia ($X), Vietnam ($X) and Malaysia ($X), together comprising 88% of total imports. Brazil and India lagged somewhat behind, together comprising a further 7.8%.
Among the main suppliers, Brazil, with a CAGR of +42.5%, recorded the highest growth rate of the value of imports, over the period under review, while purchases for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
Import Prices by Country
The average piper pepper import price stood at $X per ton in 2021, growing by 34% against the previous year. In general, the import price, however, saw a abrupt downturn. Over the period under review, average import prices attained the maximum at $X per ton in 2015; however, from 2016 to 2021, import prices remained at a lower figure.
Average prices varied somewhat amongst the major supplying countries. In 2021, the countries with the highest prices were India ($X per ton) and Vietnam ($X per ton), while the price for Brazil ($X per ton) and Indonesia ($X per ton) were amongst the lowest.
