The export price peaked at $X per tonne in 2015; however, from 2016 to 2018, export prices failed to regain their momentum.

Prices varied noticeably by the country of destination; the country with the highest price was Belgium ($X per tonne), while the average price for exports to Poland ($X per tonne) was amongst the lowest.

From 2007 to 2018, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Hungary, while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.

Imports into the Netherlands

Pepper imports into the Netherlands amounted to X tonnes in 2018, growing by X% against the previous year. In general, pepper imports, however, continue to indicate a moderate contraction. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2010 when imports increased by X% y-o-y. In that year, pepper imports reached their peak of X tonnes. From 2011 to 2018, the growth of pepper imports remained at a lower figure.

In value terms, pepper imports amounted to $X in 2018. In general, pepper imports, however, continue to indicate a modest increase. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2011 when imports increased by X% against the previous year. Brazil (X tonnes), Viet Nam (X tonnes) and Indonesia (X tonnes) were the main suppliers of pepper imports to the Netherlands, together comprising X% of total imports. These countries were followed by Italy, Germany, Spain, India, Mexico and Ecuador, which together accounted for a further X 2007 to 2018, the most notable rate of growth in terms of imports, amongst the main suppliers, was attained by Ecuador, while the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
