From 2015 to 2021, the growth of the exports remained at a lower figure.
Exports by Country
Italy represented the key exporter of typewriters and word-processing machines in the European Union, with the volume of exports amounting to X units, which was approx. 63% of total exports in 2021. Slovakia (X units) took a 13% share (based on physical terms) of total exports, which put it in second place, followed by Romania (5.1%). Spain (X units), France (X units), the Netherlands (X units) and Finland (X units) held a relatively small share of total exports.
From 2012 to 2021, average annual rates of growth with regard to typewriter exports from Italy stood at -18.4%. At the same time, Romania (+25.0%) and Finland (+8.1%) displayed positive paces of growth. Moreover, Romania emerged as the fastest-growing exporter exported in the European Union, with a CAGR of +25.0% from 2012-2021. By contrast, Slovakia (-17.3%), Spain (-22.7%), the Netherlands (-23.4%) and France (-27.2%) illustrated a downward trend over the same period. Italy (+29 p.p.), Slovakia (+6.7 p.p.), Romania (+5 p.p.) and Finland (+2.4 p.p.) significantly strengthened its position in terms of the total exports, while France saw its share reduced by -1.5% from 2012 to 2021, respectively. The shares of the other countries remained relatively stable throughout the analyzed period.
In value terms, Slovakia ($X) remains the largest typewriter supplier in the European Union, comprising 51% of total exports. The second position in the ranking was held by Italy ($X), with a 23% share of total exports. It was followed by Romania, with a 4.8% share.
From 2012 to 2021, the average annual growth rate of value in Slovakia stood at -17.7%. In the other countries, the average annual rates were as follows: Italy (-34.3% per year) and Romania (+9.9% per year).
Export Prices by Country
The export price in the European Union stood at $X per unit in 2021, dropping by -11.2% against the previous year. In general, the export price showed a abrupt slump. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2020 when the export price increased by 10%. Over the period under review, the export prices attained the maximum at $X per unit in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2021, the export prices stood at a somewhat lower figure.
Prices varied noticeably country of origin: the country with the highest price was Slovakia ($X per unit), while the Netherlands ($X per unit) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Slovakia (-0.5%), while the other leaders experienced a decline in the export price figures.

Imports in the EU
Typewriter imports expanded to X units in 2021, picking up by 4.3% against 2020 figures. Over the period under review, imports, however, continue to indicate a perceptible downturn. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2015 with an increase of 12%. Over the period under review, imports attained the peak figure at X units in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2021, imports failed to regain momentum.

The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2016 with an increase of 12%. Sweden (X units) and the Netherlands (X units) represented roughly 74% of total imports in 2021. Denmark (X units) held a 12% share (based on physical terms) of total imports, which put it in second place, followed by Austria (5.2%) and France (5.1%).
From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of purchases, amongst the main importing countries, was attained by Denmark (with a CAGR of +21.4%), while imports for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
In value terms, the largest typewriter importing markets in the European Union were Sweden ($X), the Netherlands ($X) and Denmark ($X), with a combined 85% share of total imports.
Among the main importing countries, Denmark, with a CAGR of +22.7%, recorded the highest growth rate of the value of imports, over the period under review, while purchases for the other leaders experienced mixed trends in the imports figures.
Import Prices by Country
The import price in the European Union stood at $X per unit in 2021, falling by -4% against the previous year. In general, the import price continues to indicate a pronounced slump. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2014 when the import price increased by 30%. As a result, import price reached the peak level of $X per unit. From 2015 to 2021, the import prices remained at a lower figure.
There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major importing countries. In 2021, the country with the highest price was the Netherlands ($X per unit), while Austria ($X per unit) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by the Netherlands (+7.7%), while the other leaders experienced mixed trends in the import price figures.
