For the seventh consecutive year, the Romanian typewriter market recorded decline in sales value, which decreased by -71.1% to $X in 2021. Overall, consumption saw a dramatic decrease. Over the period under review, the market attained the peak level at $X in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2021, consumption stood at a somewhat lower figure.

Typewriter Production in Romania

In value terms, typewriter production amounted to $X in 2021 estimated in export price. Overall, production, however, continues to indicate a mild shrinkage. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2016 when the production volume increased by 2.2% against the previous year. Typewriter production peaked at $X in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2021, production remained at a lower figure.

In 2021, shipments abroad of typewriters and word-processing machines increased by 8.3% to X units, rising for the fifth consecutive year after three years of decline. In general, exports posted a significant increase. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2013 when exports increased by 1,660% against the previous year. Moldova (X units) was the main destination for typewriter exports from Romania, with a 67% share of total exports. Moreover, typewriter exports to Moldova exceeded the volume sent to the second major destination, Italy (X units), threefold.
