Soya Bean Price in Iran (CIF) - 2022
The average soya bean import price stood at $474 per ton in 2022, increasing by 4.8% against the previous year. Overall, the import price, however, recorded a slight descent. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2020 when the average import price increased by 14%. The import price peaked at $555 per ton in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2022, import prices remained at a lower figure.
Average prices varied noticeably amongst the major supplying countries. In 2022, amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was Brazil ($479 per ton), while the price for Canada totaled $451 per ton.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Ukraine (-0.1%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced a decline.
Soya Bean Price in Iran (FOB) - 2022
The average soya bean export price stood at $847 per ton in 2022, with a decrease of -9.2% against the previous year. In general, the export price, however, enjoyed perceptible growth. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2013 when the average export price increased by 151% against the previous year. As a result, the export price attained the peak level of $1,555 per ton. From 2014 to 2022, the average export prices failed to regain momentum.
There were significant differences in the average prices for the major foreign markets. In 2022, amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was the UK ($5,954 per ton), while the average price for exports to Pakistan ($170 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to the UK (+536.4%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.
Soya Bean Imports in Iran
In 2022, purchases abroad of soya beans increased by 5.2% to 2M tons for the first time since 2019, thus ending a two-year declining trend. In general, imports, however, continue to indicate a pronounced decline.
In value terms, soya bean imports rose sharply to $959M in 2022. Overall, imports continue to indicate a relatively flat trend pattern.
