In 2022, avocado production in the United States expanded sharply to 171K tons, with an increase of 10% on 2021 figures. Overall, production recorded a relatively flat trend pattern. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2020 when the production volume increased by 53%. As a result, production reached the peak volume of 187K tons. From 2021 to 2022, production growth failed to regain momentum. Avocado output in the United States indicated a relatively flat trend pattern, which was largely conditioned by a relatively flat trend pattern of the harvested area and notable growth in yield figures.
In value terms, avocado production expanded sharply to $425M in 2022. Over the period under review, production, however, saw a noticeable curtailment. Read about the U.S. avocado import price and imports from January 2022 to January 2023. Mexico was the main supplier of avocados to the United States with a 96% share of total imports. The average import price increased by 1.7% against the previous month, but recorded a perceptible slump overall. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in April 2022 when the average import price increased by 23% m-o-m. In general, imports showed a relatively flat trend pattern, with the most prominent rate of growth recorded in March 2022. Overall, imports, however, saw a perceptible reduction.
