Date Price in America Gains 11% to $6,783 per Ton
U.S. Date Export Price per Ton July 2022
In July 2022, the date price per ton stood at $6,783 (FOB, US), growing by 11% against the previous month. Overall, the export price recorded a relatively flat trend pattern. As a result, the export price attained the peak level and is likely to continue growth in the immediate term.
Prices varied noticeably by the country of destination: the country with the highest price was Norway ($8,220 per ton), while the average price for exports to the UK ($1,780 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From January 2022 to July 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Mexico (+6.3%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.
U.S. Date Exports
In July 2022, overseas shipments of dates decreased by -35.8% to 433 tons, falling for the fourth month in a row after three months of growth. In general, exports faced a abrupt decrease. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in February 2022 with an increase of 60% month-to-month. The exports peaked at 1.7K tons in March 2022; however, from April 2022 to July 2022, the exports stood at a somewhat lower figure.
In value terms, date exports dropped notably to $2.9M (IndexBox estimates) in July 2022. Overall, exports faced a drastic downturn. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in February 2022 when exports increased by 44% against the previous month. The exports peaked at $9.5M in March 2022; however, from April 2022 to July 2022, the exports remained at a lower figure.
U.S. Date Exports by Country
Australia (139 tons), Canada (104 tons) and Mexico (46 tons) were the main destinations of date exports from the United States, together comprising 67% of total exports. These countries were followed by Japan, Norway, Qatar and the UK, which together accounted for a further 24%.
From January 2022 to July 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of shipments, amongst the main countries of destination, was attained by Norway (with a CAGR of +14.9%), while the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
In value terms, Australia ($927K), Canada ($850K) and Norway ($279K) appeared to be the largest markets for date exported from the United States worldwide, together accounting for 70% of total exports.
Norway, with a CAGR of +14.9%, recorded the highest growth rate of the value of exports, in terms of the main countries of destination over the period under review, while shipments for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
