Avocado Market Size in the U.S.

The U.S. avocado market fell to $X in 2020, which is down by -X% against the previous year. In general, consumption, however, showed a resilient expansion. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2009 when the market value increased by X% year-to-year. Avocado consumption peaked at $X in 2019, and then shrank in the following year.

Avocado Production in the U.S.

In value terms, avocado production fell to $X in 2020. Overall, production saw a perceptible contraction. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2009 when the production volume increased by X% year-to-year. Over the period under review, production attained the maximum level at $X in 2011; however, from 2012 to 2020, production remained at a lower figure.

Avocado exports from the U.S. expanded remarkably to X tonnes in 2020, picking up by X% compared with 2019. Over the period under review, exports recorded a significant increase. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2009 with an increase of X% against the previous year. Over the period under review, exports reached the maximum at X tonnes in 2018; however, from 2019 to 2020, exports failed to regain the momentum.

In value terms, avocado exports reached $X in 2020. Overall, exports posted significant growth. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2008 with an increase of X% y-o-y. Over the period under review, exports hit record highs at $X in 2018; however, from 2019 to 2020, exports remained at a lower figure.

Exports by Country

Canada (X tonnes) was the main destination for avocado exports from the U.S., with a X% share of total exports. Moreover, avocado exports to Canada exceeded the volume sent to the second major destination, South Korea (X tonnes), more than tenfold. The third position in this ranking was occupied by Japan (X tonnes), with a X% share.

From 2007 to 2020, the average annual growth rate of volume to Canada stood at +X%. Exports to the other major destinations recorded the following average annual rates of exports growth: South Korea (+X% per year) and Japan (+X% per year).

In value terms, Canada ($X) remains the key foreign market for avocado exports from the U.S., comprising X% of total exports. The second position in the ranking was occupied by South Korea ($X), with a X% share of total exports. It was followed by Japan, with a X% share.

From 2007 to 2020, the average annual rate of growth in terms of value to Canada totaled +X%. Exports to the other major destinations recorded the following average annual rates of exports growth: South Korea (+X% per year) and Japan (+X% per year).

Export Prices by Country

In 2020, the average avocado export price amounted to $X per tonne, reducing by -X% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the export price, however, showed a relatively flat trend pattern. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2011 when the average export price increased by X% year-to-year. As a result, export price reached the peak level of $X per tonne. Imports into the U.S.

In 2020, the amount of avocados imported into the U.S. was estimated at X tonnes, approximately reflecting the year before. Over the period under review, imports saw a resilient expansion. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2010 with an increase of X% against the previous year. Over the period under review, imports attained the maximum in 2020 and are likely to see steady growth in the near future.

In value terms, avocado imports shrank to $X in 2020. In general, imports showed a prominent increase. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2011 with an increase of X% y-o-y. Imports peaked at $X in 2019, and then fell in the following year.
