Price for Soya Beans; Other than Seed, Whether or Not Broken in Italy (CIF) - 2023

In September 2023, the average import price for soya beans; other than seed, whether or not brokens amounted to $582 per ton, growing by 2.6% against the previous month. Overall, the import price, however, showed a relatively flat trend pattern. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in December 2022 an increase of 4.6% month-to-month. As a result, import price attained the peak level of $656 per ton. From January 2023 to September 2023, the average import prices remained at a lower figure.

Prices varied noticeably by the country of origin: the country with the highest price was the United States ($1,002 per ton), while the price for Ukraine ($516 per ton) was amongst the lowest.

From November 2022 to September 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by the United States (+4.4%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced more modest paces of growth.

The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, export price for soya beans; other than seed, whether or not brokens increased by +52.8% against 2017 indices. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2013 when the average export price increased by 22% against the previous year. The export price peaked at $1,051 per ton in 2014; however, from 2015 to 2022, the export prices remained at a lower figure.

Overall, total imports indicated a significant increase from 2019 to 2022: its value increased at an average annual rate of +21.6% over the last three-year period. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, imports increased by +79.8% against 2019 indices. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2021 when imports increased by 50%.
