The average import price for nuts, edible; macadamia, fresh or dried, shelleds stood at $8,323 per ton in December 2023, rising by 35% against the previous month. In general, the import price, however, saw a pronounced decrease. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in March 2023 when the average import price increased by 40% m-o-m. Over the period under review, average import prices hit record highs at $16,455 per ton in May 2023; however, from June 2023 to December 2023, import prices failed to regain momentum.

Prices varied noticeably by the country of origin: the country with the highest price was Australia ($21,806 per ton), while the price for South Africa ($6,975 per ton) was amongst the lowest.

From December 2022 to December 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Australia (-0.7%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced a decline.

The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, export price for nuts, edible; macadamia, fresh or dried, shelleds decreased by -18.2% against 2018 indices. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2014 when the average export price increased by 22% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the average export prices hit record highs at $22,126 per ton in 2018; however, from 2019 to 2022, the export prices remained at a lower figure.

There were significant differences in the average prices for the major foreign markets. In 2022, amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Poland ($22,390 per ton), while the average price for exports to Canada ($13,962 per ton) was amongst the lowest.

From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to the Netherlands (+6.4%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.
