Almond Market - The U.S. Ranked First Globally in Almond Exports in 2014
The U.S. seized control of almond market. In 2014, the U.S. exported X thousand tonnes of almonds totaling X million USD, X% over the previous year. Its primary trading partner was Spain, where it supplied X% of its total almond exports in value terms, accounting for X% of Spain's total imports.
From 2007 to 2014, the U.S. was a net exporter of almonds. Over this period, exports consistently exceeded imports in value terms. In physical terms, from 2007-2011, the difference was more pronounced, however, a drop in import prices made this difference less notable from 2012-2014.
Spain and Australia were among the other main global suppliers of almonds in 2014. However, the fastest growing exporters from 2007 to 2014 were Australia (+X% per year) and Turkey (+X% per year). By virtue of this, Australia was able to strengthen its position in the global export structure.
The U.S.'s top X trading partners in 2014 were Spain, India, Germany, the United Arab Emirates and Japan, with a combined X% share of the U.S.'s almond exports. The share of the United Arab Emirates increased (+X percentage points), while the share of Germany illustrated negative dynamics (-X percentage points).
