Price for Non-Citrus Fruits Not Elsewhere Classified in Malaysia (CIF) - 2021

In December 2021, the average import price for non-citrus fruits not elsewhere classified amounted to $656 per ton, falling by -3.1% against the previous month. In general, the import price continues to indicate a relatively flat trend pattern. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in June 2021 when the average import price increased by 11% m-o-m. As a result, import price reached the peak level of $836 per ton. From July 2021 to December 2021, the average import prices remained at a lower figure.

Prices varied noticeably by the country of origin: the country with the highest price was Egypt ($1,158 per ton), while the price for Thailand ($605 per ton) was amongst the lowest.

From December 2020 to December 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Egypt (+2.2%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced mixed trend patterns.

Price for Non-Citrus Fruits Not Elsewhere Classified in Malaysia (FOB) - 2021

The average export price for non-citrus fruits not elsewhere classified stood at $1,168 per ton in December 2021, growing by 14% against the previous month. In general, the export price, however, saw a mild downturn. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in November 2021 when the average export price increased by 34% month-to-month. Over the period under review, the average export prices reached the peak figure at $1,379 per ton in December 2020; however, from January 2021 to December 2021, the export prices failed to regain momentum.

There were significant differences in the average prices for the major external markets. In December 2021, the country with the highest price was the Netherlands ($6,463 per ton), while the average price for exports to Singapore ($569 per ton) was amongst the lowest.

From December 2020 to December 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Hong Kong SAR (+3.5%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced mixed trend patterns.

Imports of Non-Citrus Fruits Not Elsewhere Classified in Malaysia

In 2022, imports of non-citrus fruits not elsewhere classified into Malaysia rose rapidly to 91K tons, increasing by 10% on the previous year's figure. In general, imports continue to indicate significant growth. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2021 when imports increased by 66%. Over the period under review, imports attained the maximum in 2022 and are likely to see steady growth in the immediate term.

In value terms, non-citrus fruits not elsewhere classified imports expanded to $59M in 2022. Overall, imports showed a significant increase. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2021 with an increase of 62%. Imports peaked in 2022 and are likely to continue growth in the immediate term.

As a result, the exports attained the peak of 49K tons, and then contracted in the following year.
