Which Country Imports the Most Strawberries in the World?

Global strawberry imports amounted to 888 thousand tonnes in 2015, approximately equating the previous year level.Overall, the global strawberry imports indicated a pronounced growth from 2007 to 2015. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticable fluctuations throughout the analyzed period. The total import volume increased at an average annual rate of +3.6% over the last eight years.

The growth pace was the most rapid in 2012, when the output figure increased by +19% from the previous year level. In that year, the global strawberry imports attained its maximum volume of 926 thousand tonnes. From 2013 to 2015, the total strawberry imports growth failed to regain its strength.

In value terms, global strawberry imports amounted to $2,369 million in 2015. Overall, the value of global strawberry imports increased robustly from 2007 to 2015, expanding at an average annual rate of +4.8%. This trend pattern, however, indicated relatively mild fluctuations throughout the analyzed period.

Strawberry Imports By Country

The countries with the highest levels of the strawberry imports in 2015 were the United States (143 thousand tonnes), Germany (101 thousand tonnes), Canada (100 thousand tonnes), together accounting for 39% of total imports.

From 2007 to 2015, the most notable growth rates of strawberry imports among the main importing countries was attained by Belarus (+81.1% per year), while the other global leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

In value terms, the United States (413 million USD), Canada (316 million USD) and Germany (231 million USD) were the countries with the highest levels of imports in 2015, together accounting for 41% of total imports.

the United States (+14.8% per year) had the highest growth rates of strawberry imports among the main importing countries over the last eight years, while the other global leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
