Strawberry Market Size in Malaysia

From 2007 to 2020, the average annual rate of growth in terms of volume to Singapore stood at +X%.

In value terms, Singapore ($X) remains the key foreign market for strawberry exports from Malaysia, comprising X% of total exports. The second position in the ranking was occupied by Maldives ($X), with a X% share of total exports.

Export Prices by Country

In 2020, the average strawberry export price amounted to $X per tonne, approximately equating the previous year. In general, the export price enjoyed a tangible expansion. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2009 an increase of X% against the previous year. As a result, export price attained the peak level of $X per tonne. From 2010 to 2020, the growth in terms of the average export prices remained at a somewhat lower figure.

Average prices varied noticeably for the major foreign markets. In 2020, the country with the highest price was Maldives ($X per tonne), while the average price for exports to Singapore amounted to $X per tonne.

From 2007 to 2020, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Singapore.

Strawberry Imports

Imports into Malaysia

In 2020, after three years of growth, there was significant decline in purchases abroad of strawberries, when their volume decreased by -X% to X tonnes. Overall, imports, however, showed resilient growth. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2011 when imports increased by X% year-to-year. Imports peaked at X tonnes in 2019, and then contracted significantly in the following year.

In value terms, strawberry imports fell markedly to $X in 2020. Over the period under review, imports, however, continue to indicate prominent growth. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2015 with an increase of X% against the previous year. Imports peaked at $X in 2019, and then declined sharply in the following year.

Imports by Country

Australia (X tonnes), South Korea (X tonnes) and Egypt (X tonnes) were the main suppliers of strawberry imports to Malaysia, together accounting for X% of total imports.

From 2007 to 2020, the biggest increases were in South Korea, while purchases for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

In value terms, South Korea ($X), Australia ($X) and the U.S. ($X) were the largest strawberry suppliers to Malaysia, together comprising X% of total imports.

Among the main suppliers, South Korea (+X% per year) recorded the highest growth rate of the value of imports, over the period under review, while purchases for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

Import Prices by Country

The average strawberry import price stood at $X per tonne in 2020, surging by X% against the previous year. In general, the import price continues to indicate a prominent increase. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2015 when the average import price increased by X% y-o-y. Over the period under review, average import prices attained the maximum in 2020 and is expected to retain growth in the immediate term.

There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major supplying countries. In 2020, the country with the highest price was South Korea ($X per tonne), while the price for Greece ($X per tonne) was amongst the lowest.
