The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2014 when exports increased by X% against the previous year. Over the period under review, exports reached the peak figure in 2020 and are likely to continue growth in the immediate term.

In value terms, strawberry exports soared to $X in 2020. Overall, exports showed a significant increase. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2014 when exports increased by X% y-o-y. Over the period under review, exports attained the maximum in 2020 and are expected to retain growth in the immediate term.

Exports by Country

Viet Nam (X tonnes) was the main destination for strawberry exports from China, with a X% share of total exports. Moreover, strawberry exports to Viet Nam exceeded the volume sent to the second major destination, Russia (X tonnes), fourfold.

From 2007 to 2020, the average annual rate of growth in terms of volume to Viet Nam amounted to +X%. Exports to the other major destinations recorded the following average annual rates of exports growth: Russia (+X% per year) and Macao SAR (+X% per year).

Export Prices by Country

The average strawberry export price stood at $X per tonne in 2020, rising by X% against the previous year. Over the period under review, export price indicated temperate growth from 2007 to 2020: its price increased at an average annual rate of +X% over the last thirteen-year period. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2020 figures, strawberry export price increased by +X% against 2016 indices. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2012 an increase of X% against the previous year. For the fifth year in a row, China recorded decline in overseas purchases of strawberries, which decreased by -X% to X tonnes in 2020. In general, imports faced a precipitous descent. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2015 when imports increased by X% y-o-y. Over the period under review, imports reached the maximum at X tonnes in 2007; however, from 2008 to 2020, imports remained at a lower figure.

In value terms, strawberry imports contracted markedly to $X in 2020. Over the period under review, imports faced a sharp setback. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2015 when imports increased by X% year-to-year. Imports peaked at $X in 2007; however, from 2008 to 2020, imports failed to regain the momentum.

In 2020, Egypt (X tonnes) was the main strawberry supplier to China, with a approx. X% share of total imports.
