Blueberry And Cranberry Market Size in Malaysia

The Malaysian blueberry and cranberry market expanded markedly to $X in 2019, rising by X% against the previous year. Exports peaked at X tonnes in 2018, and then dropped sharply in the following year.

In value terms, blueberry and cranberry exports shrank notably to $X in 2019. Overall, exports saw a temperate expansion. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2016 with an increase of X% y-o-y. Over the period under review, exports hit record highs at $X in 2018, and then shrank markedly in the following year.

Singapore (X tonnes), Hong Kong SAR (X tonnes) and Poland (X kg) were the main destinations of blueberry and cranberry exports from Malaysia, with a combined X% share of total exports.

From 2007 to 2019, the most notable rate of growth in terms of shipments, amongst the main countries of destination, was attained by Poland, while exports for the other leaders experienced a decline.

In value terms, Hong Kong SAR ($X), Singapore ($X) and Poland ($X) were the largest markets for blueberry and cranberry exported from Malaysia worldwide, with a combined X% share of total exports.

Poland saw the highest growth rate of the value of exports, among the main countries of destination over the period under review, while shipments for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

The average blueberry and cranberry export price stood at $X per tonne in 2019, reducing by -X% against the previous year. In general, the export price, however, recorded a remarkable increase. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2010 an increase of X% year-to-year. The export price peaked at $X per tonne in 2018, and then dropped notably in the following year.

Prices varied noticeably by the country of destination; the country with the highest price was Hong Kong SAR ($X per tonne), while the average price for exports to Singapore ($X per tonne) was amongst the lowest.

From 2007 to 2019, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Austria, while the prices for the other major destinations experienced mixed trend patterns.

Imports into Malaysia

For the eighth year in a row, Malaysia recorded growth in overseas purchases of blueberries and cranberries, which increased by X% to X tonnes in 2019. Over the period under review, imports saw significant growth. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2009 with an increase of X% against the previous year. Over the period under review, imports hit record highs in 2019 and are expected to retain growth in the near future.

In value terms, blueberry and cranberry imports rose markedly to $X in 2019. In general, imports posted a significant increase. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2015 with an increase of X% y-o-y. Imports peaked in 2019 and are likely to see gradual growth in years to come.

South Africa (X tonnes), the U.S. (X tonnes) and Spain (X tonnes) were the main suppliers of blueberry and cranberry imports to Malaysia, together comprising X% of total imports. These countries were followed by Chile, Morocco, Argentina and Mexico, which together accounted for a further X 2007 to 2019, the biggest increases were in Mexico (+X% per year), while purchases for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

In 2019, the average blueberry and cranberry import price amounted to $X per tonne, waning by -X% against the previous year. Overall, the import price, however, enjoyed buoyant growth. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2015 when the average import price increased by X% y-o-y. Over the period under review, average import prices attained the maximum at $X per tonne in 2017; however, from 2018 to 2019, import prices failed to regain the momentum.

There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major supplying countries. In 2019, the country with the highest price was Chile ($X per tonne), while the price for Spain ($X per tonne) was amongst the lowest.
