Mandarins Price in Bulgaria (CIF) - 2022

In 2022, the average mandarins import price amounted to $748 per ton, dropping by -4.1% against the previous year. Over the last five-year period, it increased at an average annual rate of +6.6%. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2020 an increase of 15% against the previous year. The import price peaked at $781 per ton in 2021, and then fell slightly in the following year.

Prices varied noticeably by country of origin: amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was Turkey ($820 per ton), while the price for Greece ($405 per ton) was amongst the lowest.

From 2017 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Greece (+5.4%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced mixed trend patterns.

In 2022, the average mandarins export price amounted to $1,105 per ton, with a decrease of -7% against the previous year. Overall, export price indicated a buoyant expansion from 2017 to 2022: its price increased at an average annual rate of +10.1% over the last five years. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, mandarins export price increased by +20.9% against 2018 indices. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2021 when the average export price increased by 46% against the previous year. As a result, the export price attained the peak level of $1,188 per ton, and then contracted in the following year.

There were significant differences in the average prices for the major external markets. In 2022, amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Romania ($1,423 per ton), while the average price for exports to Belarus ($820 per ton) was amongst the lowest.

From 2017 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Italy (+522.8%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.

Mandarins Imports in Bulgaria

For the third consecutive year, Bulgaria recorded decline in overseas purchases of fruit, edible, which decreased by -40.5% to 6.8K tons in 2022. Over the period under review, imports showed a significant contraction. The smallest decline of -0.4% was in 2020.

In value terms, mandarins imports contracted remarkably to $5.1M in 2022. In general, imports recorded a deep setback. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2020 with an increase of 15% against the previous year. As a result, imports reached the peak of $10M. From 2021 to 2022, the growth of imports remained at a somewhat lower figure.

Mandarins Exports in Bulgaria

In 2022, overseas shipments of fruit, edible increased by 37% to 5.4K tons for the first time since 2019, thus ending a two-year declining trend. Over the period under review, exports, however, continue to indicate a deep contraction.

In value terms, mandarins exports soared to $6M in 2022. Overall, exports, however, recorded a perceptible descent.
