Fig Price in the UK (CIF) - 2023
The average fig import price stood at $4,803 per ton in June 2023, increasing by 23% against the previous month. Over the last twelve-month period, it increased at an average monthly rate of +1.6%. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in October 2022 when the average import price increased by 31% m-o-m. The import price peaked in June 2023.
There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major supplying countries. In June 2023, the country with the highest price was Italy ($6,893 per ton), while the price for Turkey ($4,242 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From June 2022 to June 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Turkey (+4.1%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced more modest paces of growth.

In 2022, the average fig export price amounted to $4,947 per ton, reducing by -21.2% against the previous year. Overall, export price indicated a pronounced increase from 2012 to 2022: its price increased at an average annual rate of +3.3% over the last decade. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2020 when the average export price increased by 64%. The export price peaked at $6,275 per ton in 2021, and then declined rapidly in the following year.
There were significant differences in the average prices for the major overseas markets. In 2022, amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was France ($8,171 per ton), while the average price for exports to the Netherlands ($3,645 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Belgium (+15.6%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.

In 2022, imports of figs into the UK contracted slightly to 7.1K tons, leveling off at the year before. Overall, imports showed a slight descent. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2021 with an increase of 8.5%.
