Fig Price in Thailand (CIF) - 2022
The average fig import price stood at $7,125 per ton in 2022, growing by 31% against the previous year. Over the period under review, import price indicated a strong increase from 2012 to 2022: its price increased at an average annual rate of +5.2% over the last decade. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2017 an increase of 77%. Over the period under review, average import prices hit record highs in 2022 and is likely to see gradual growth in years to come.
Average prices varied somewhat amongst the major supplying countries. In 2022, amid the top importers, the countries with the highest prices were China ($9,177 per ton) and Turkey ($7,015 per ton), while the price for Iran ($6,771 per ton) and the United States ($6,972 per ton) were amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Turkey (+8.3%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced more modest paces of growth.

The average fig export price stood at $5,274 per ton in 2022, approximately equating the previous year. Overall, the export price saw a measured expansion. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2020 when the average export price increased by 236% against the previous year. As a result, the export price attained the peak level of $17,577 per ton. From 2021 to 2022, the average export prices remained at a lower figure.
As there is only one major export destination, the average price level is determined by prices for the United Arab Emirates.
From 2012 to 2022, the rate of growth in terms of prices for China amounted to +3.9% per year.
Fig Imports in Thailand
In 2022, supplies from abroad of figs was finally on the rise to reach 58 tons for the first time since 2019, thus ending a two-year declining trend. Overall, imports, however, saw a slight contraction.
In value terms, fig imports surged to $412K in 2022. Over the period under review, total imports indicated a strong increase from 2019 to 2022: its value increased at an average annual rate of +5.4% over the last three-year period. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period.
