Yams Price in Spain (FOB) - 2022

In 2022, the average yams export price amounted to $1,521 per ton, approximately mirroring the previous year. Over the period under review, the export price, however, continues to indicate a relatively flat trend pattern. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2013 an increase of 60% against the previous year. The export price peaked at $3,505 per ton in 2018; however, from 2019 to 2022, the export prices failed to regain momentum.

There were significant differences in the average prices for the major export markets. In 2022, amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Portugal ($2,911 per ton), while the average price for exports to Belgium ($1,250 per ton) was amongst the lowest.

From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Portugal (+6.8%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced a decline.

Yams Price in Spain (CIF) - 2022

The average yams import price stood at $1,445 per ton in 2022, falling by -6% against the previous year. Overall, the import price showed a relatively flat trend pattern. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2014 an increase of 18% against the previous year. Over the period under review, average import prices reached the peak figure at $1,719 per ton in 2020; however, from 2021 to 2022, import prices stood at a somewhat lower figure.

Prices varied noticeably by country of origin: amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was Italy ($2,796 per ton), while the price for Togo ($355 per ton) was amongst the lowest.

From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Italy (+3.4%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced more modest paces of growth.

Yams Exports in Spain

After three years of growth, overseas shipments of yams decreased by -33.5% to 306 tons in 2022. Overall, exports, however, showed a significant expansion. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2020 when exports increased by 218%.

In value terms, yams exports dropped dramatically to $465K in 2022. Over the period under review, exports, however, saw a significant expansion. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2020 when exports increased by 153%.

Yams Imports in Spain

In 2022, approx. 182 tons of yams were imported into Spain; with an increase of 16% against the previous year. Overall, imports, however, continue to indicate a dramatic downturn. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2020 with an increase of 33%. As a result, imports reached the peak of 502 tons. From 2021 to 2022, the growth of imports failed to regain momentum.

In value terms, yams imports stood at $263K in 2022. Over the period under review, imports, however, saw a precipitous slump. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2020 when imports increased by 45% against the previous year. As a result, imports reached the peak of $863K. From 2021 to 2022, the growth of imports remained at a somewhat lower figure.
