Exports from Spain
In 2022, overseas shipments of sweet potatoes decreased by X% to X tons, falling for the second year in a row after seven years of growth. In general, exports, however, enjoyed strong growth. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2014 with an increase of X% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the exports reached the maximum at X tons in 2020; however, from 2021 to 2022, the exports failed to regain momentum.
In value terms, sweet potato exports contracted to $X in 2022. Over the period under review, exports, however, continue to indicate pronounced growth. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2014 with an increase of X%. The exports peaked at $X in 2020; however, from 2021 to 2022, the exports failed to regain momentum.
Exports by Country
France (X tons) was the main destination for sweet potato exports from Spain, accounting for a X% share of total exports. Moreover, sweet potato exports to France exceeded the volume sent to the second major destination, the Netherlands (X tons), fourfold. The third position in this ranking was taken by Germany (X tons), with a X% share.
From 2012 to 2022, the average annual growth rate of volume to France amounted to X%. Exports to the other major destinations recorded the following average annual rates of exports growth: the Netherlands (X% per year) and Germany (X% per year).
In value terms, France ($X) remains the key foreign market for sweet potatoes exports from Spain, comprising X% of total exports. The second position in the ranking was held by Germany ($X), with a X% share of total exports. It was followed by the Netherlands, with a X% share.

There were significant differences in the average prices for the major export markets. In 2022, amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Austria ($X per ton), while the average price for exports to Belgium ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Austria (X%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced a decline.

In 2022, supplies from abroad of sweet potatoes decreased by X% to X tons, falling for the second consecutive year after seven years of growth. Over the period under review, imports, however, posted significant growth. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2019 with an increase of X% against the previous year. Over the period under review, imports hit record highs at X tons in 2020; however, from 2021 to 2022, imports remained at a lower figure.
In value terms, sweet potato imports contracted significantly to $X in 2022. In general, imports, however, saw significant growth. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2018 with an increase of X%. Imports peaked at $X in 2021, and then reduced markedly in the following year.
Imports by Country
The Netherlands (X tons), Portugal (X tons) and the United States (X tons) were the main suppliers of sweet potato imports to Spain, together comprising X% of total imports. Morocco, Egypt, France, Germany and Honduras lagged somewhat behind, together comprising a further X%.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of purchases, amongst the main suppliers, was attained by Germany (with a CAGR of X%), while imports for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
