The average import price for nuts, edible; pistachios, fresh or dried, shelleds stood at $18,913 per ton in November 2023, growing by 19% against the previous month. Over the last twelve-month period, it increased at an average monthly rate of +1.4%. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in September 2023 an increase of 47% m-o-m. Over the period under review, average import prices hit record highs at $21,714 per ton in July 2023; however, from August 2023 to November 2023, import prices stood at a somewhat lower figure.

Prices varied noticeably by the country of origin: the country with the highest price was France ($53,254 per ton), while the price for Bulgaria ($16,107 per ton) was amongst the lowest.

From November 2022 to November 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by France (+17.3%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced more modest paces of growth.

As a result, the export price attained the peak level of $18,589 per ton. From 2016 to 2022, the average export prices failed to regain momentum.

Average prices varied noticeably for the major export markets. In 2022, amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was France ($16,500 per ton), while the average price for exports to Italy totaled $15,373 per ton.

From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to France (-1.5%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced a decline.

In 2022, supplies from abroad of nuts, edible; pistachios, fresh or dried, shelleds decreased by -4.1% to 151 tons for the first time since 2018, thus ending a three-year rising trend. Overall, imports, however, showed a significant increase. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2020 when imports increased by 111%.
