The average import price for tubes and pipes of copper-nickel base alloys (cupro-nickel) or copper-nickel-zinc base alloys (nickel silver) stood at $40,275 per ton in December 2023, waning by -25% against the previous month. Overall, the import price, however, saw a pronounced increase. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in November 2023 when the average import price increased by 93% month-to-month. As a result, import price reached the peak level of $53,670 per ton, and then shrank remarkably in the following month.
As there is only one major supplying country, the average price level is determined by prices for South Korea.
From December 2022 to December 2023, the rate of growth in terms of prices for India amounted to +6.4% per month.
Imports of Cupro-Nickel and Nickel Silver Tubes and Pipes in Qatar
In 2022, overseas purchases of tubes and pipes of copper-nickel base alloys (cupro-nickel) or copper-nickel-zinc base alloys (nickel silver) increased by 8.9% to 6.9 tons for the first time since 2019, thus ending a two-year declining trend. Over the period under review, imports, however, showed a dramatic slump.
In value terms, imports of tubes and pipes of copper-nickel base alloys (cupro-nickel) or copper-nickel-zinc base alloys (nickel silver) skyrocketed to $176K in 2022. In general, imports, however, saw a dramatic shrinkage.
