In November 2023, the average export price for melons (including watermelons) and papaws (papayas); freshes amounted to $1,782 per ton, increasing by 7.6% against the previous month. Overall, the export price, however, saw a relatively flat trend pattern. The growth pace was the most rapid in September 2023 an increase of 22% m-o-m. Over the period under review, the average export prices reached the maximum at $2,035 per ton in December 2022; however, from January 2023 to November 2023, the export prices failed to regain momentum.
Prices varied noticeably by the country of destination: the country with the highest price was Switzerland ($4,442 per ton), while the average price for exports to Malaysia ($396 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From November 2022 to November 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Switzerland (+3.8%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.

Over the period under review, the import price saw a relatively flat trend pattern. The growth pace was the most rapid in May 2023 when the average import price increased by 1,366% against the previous month. As a result, import price attained the peak level of $15,941 per ton. From June 2023 to November 2023, the average import prices remained at a somewhat lower figure.
As there is only one major supplying country, the average price level is determined by prices for China.
