The average fruit, edible; durians, fresh import price stood at $7,983 per ton in July 2023, with a decrease of -3.8% against the previous month. Overall, import price indicated a modest expansion from July 2022 to July 2023: its price increased at an average monthly rate of +1.8% over the last twelve months. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on July 2023 figures, fruit, edible; durians, fresh import price decreased by -10.8% against February 2023 indices. The growth pace was the most rapid in October 2022 an increase of 24% against the previous month. Over the period under review, average import prices hit record highs at $9,395 per ton in December 2022; however, from January 2023 to July 2023, import prices failed to regain momentum.
There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major supplying countries. In July 2023, the country with the highest price was Thailand ($9,258 per ton), while the price for Vietnam amounted to $5,737 per ton.
From July 2022 to July 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Thailand (+1.2%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced more modest paces of growth.

In 2022, purchases abroad of fruit, edible; durians, freshes decreased by -26.8% to 564 tons for the first time since 2018, thus ending a three-year rising trend. Overall, imports, however, posted a prominent expansion. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2021 when imports increased by 86% against the previous year. As a result, imports attained the peak of 770 tons, and then shrank sharply in the following year.
In value terms, fruit, edible; durians, fresh imports declined significantly to $3.8M in 2022. Over the period under review, total imports indicated a prominent increase from 2019 to 2022: its value increased at an average annual rate of +11.5% over the last three-year period. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, imports increased by +38.6% against 2019 indices. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2021 when imports increased by 46%. As a result, imports reached the peak of $5.4M, and then fell notably in the following year.
