Price for Flax, Tow and Waste in Serbia (CIF) - 2022
In 2022, the average flax, tow and waste import price amounted to $4,343 per ton, dropping by -7.5% against the previous year. Over the last decade, it increased at an average annual rate of +1.0%. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2015 an increase of 51% against the previous year. Over the period under review, average import prices attained the peak figure at $5,737 per ton in 2018; however, from 2019 to 2022, import prices failed to regain momentum.
Prices varied noticeably by country of origin: amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was China ($8,254 per ton), while the price for Egypt ($4,269 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Slovenia (+22.6%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced more modest paces of growth.

In 2022, the average flax, tow and waste export price amounted to $4,794 per ton, with a decrease of -48.8% against the previous year. Overall, the export price showed a pronounced shrinkage. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2021 an increase of 94% against the previous year. The export price peaked at $9,375 per ton in 2014; however, from 2015 to 2022, the export prices stood at a somewhat lower figure.
Average prices varied noticeably for the major external markets. In 2022, amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Bosnia and Herzegovina ($5,475 per ton), while the average price for exports to Montenegro totaled $4,827 per ton.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Bosnia and Herzegovina (+5.8%).
Imports of Flax, Tow and Waste in Serbia
In 2022, the amount of flax, tow and waste imported into Serbia declined significantly to 2.3 tons, shrinking by -35.6% on the previous year's figure. In general, imports showed a sharp decline. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2021 when imports increased by 265%.
In value terms, flax, tow and waste imports declined sharply to $10K in 2022. Overall, imports continue to indicate a significant curtailment. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2021 when imports increased by 241% against the previous year.

Exports of Flax, Tow and Waste in Serbia
For the third year in a row, Serbia recorded decline in overseas shipments of flax, tow and waste, which decreased by -38.2% to 34 kg in 2022. In general, exports continue to indicate a sharp decline.
In value terms, flax, tow and waste exports dropped notably to $163 in 2022. Over the period under review, exports continue to indicate a precipitous shrinkage. The smallest decline of -41.9% was in 2020.
