The average export price for butter and other fats and oils derived from milk stood at $5,954 per ton in November 2023, picking up by 2.9% against the previous month. In general, the export price, however, showed a slight descent. The export price peaked at $6,830 per ton in November 2022; however, from December 2022 to November 2023, the export prices failed to regain momentum.
Average prices varied somewhat for the major export markets. In November 2023, the countries with the highest prices were the United States ($7,295 per ton) and Georgia ($6,840 per ton), while the average price for exports to Saudi Arabia ($5,378 per ton) and Ukraine ($5,437 per ton) were amongst the lowest.
From November 2022 to November 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Saudi Arabia (+0.4%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced mixed trend patterns.

The average import price for butter and other fats and oils derived from milk stood at $6,002 per ton in September 2023, declining by -6% against the previous month. Overall, the import price, however, showed a relatively flat trend pattern. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in June 2023 when the average import price increased by 28% against the previous month. The import price peaked at $7,692 per ton in December 2022; however, from January 2023 to September 2023, import prices stood at a somewhat lower figure.
Prices varied noticeably by the country of origin: the country with the highest price was Belgium ($9,432 per ton), while the price for Sweden ($4,257 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From October 2022 to September 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Italy (+2.5%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced more modest paces of growth.
