Which Country Exports the Most Butter And Ghee in the World?

Global butter and ghee exports amounted to 1,763 thousand tonnes in 2015, coming down by -2.2% against the previous year level. Overall, the global butter and ghee exports indicated a pronounced growth from 2007 to 2015. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticable fluctuations throughout the analyzed period. The total export volume increased at an average annual rate of +2.1% over the last eight years.

The growth pace was the most rapid in 2010, when the output figure increased by +8% from the previous year level. Over the period under review, the global butter and ghee exports attained its maximum volume of 1,804 thousand tonnes in 2014, falling back in the following year.

In value terms, global exports amounted to $6,693 million in 2015. Overall, the value of global exports increased tangibly from 2007 to 2015, expanding at an average annual rate of +3.0%. This trend pattern, however, indicated relatively mild fluctuations throughout the analyzed period.

Butter And Ghee Imports By Country

The countries with the highest levels of the butter and ghee exports in 2015 were New Zealand (383 thousand tonnes), the Netherlands (273 thousand tonnes), Ireland (199 thousand tonnes), together accounting for 49% of total exports.

From 2007 to 2015, the most notable growth rates of butter and ghee exports among the main exporting countries was attained by the Netherlands (+7.3% per year), while the other global leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

In value terms, New Zealand (1,638 million USD), the Netherlands (996 million USD) and Ireland (693 million USD) were the countries with the highest levels of exports in 2015, together accounting for 50% of total exports.

Belarus (+8.6% per year) had the highest growth rates of butter and ghee exports among the main exporting countries over the last eight years, while the other global leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
