Orange Price in Myanmar (CIF) - 2022
The average orange import price stood at $321 per ton in December 2022, which is down by -4.3% against the previous month. Over the period under review, the import price, however, saw a moderate increase. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in January 2022 an increase of 168% m-o-m. The import price peaked at $619 per ton in February 2022; however, from March 2022 to December 2022, import prices remained at a lower figure.
Prices varied noticeably by the country of origin: the country with the highest price was Thailand ($572 per ton), while the price for China totaled $314 per ton.
From December 2021 to December 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by South Africa (+17.1%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced more modest paces of growth.
Orange Price in Myanmar (FOB) - 2022
In 2022, the average orange export price amounted to $466 per ton, growing by 6.5% against the previous year. In general, the export price, however, recorded a pronounced reduction. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2018 when the average export price increased by 68% against the previous year. As a result, the export price reached the peak level of $719 per ton. From 2019 to 2022, the average export prices remained at a somewhat lower figure.
Average prices varied somewhat for the major overseas markets. In 2022, amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Thailand ($484 per ton), while the average price for exports to China amounted to $336 per ton.
From 2013 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Thailand (-4.0%).
Orange Imports in Myanmar
In 2022, purchases abroad of oranges decreased by -67.9% to 10K tons, falling for the second year in a row after two years of growth. Over the period under review, imports showed a precipitous decline. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2020 when imports increased by 58% against the previous year. As a result, imports attained the peak of 75K tons. From 2021 to 2022, the growth of imports remained at a somewhat lower figure.
In value terms, orange imports contracted significantly to $4.2M in 2022. Overall, imports faced a precipitous setback. The smallest decline of -1% was in 2020.

Orange Exports in Myanmar
After three years of growth, shipments abroad of oranges decreased by -83.7% to 1K tons in 2022. In general, exports faced a precipitous curtailment. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2021 when exports increased by 91%. As a result, the exports reached the peak of 6.4K tons, and then contracted notably in the following year.
In value terms, orange exports contracted markedly to $485K in 2022. Over the period under review, exports continue to indicate a abrupt decline. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2021 with an increase of 192%. As a result, the exports attained the peak of $2.8M, and then shrank rapidly in the following year.
