Mandarin and Clementine Price in Uruguay (FOB) - 2022

In 2022, the average mandarin and clementine export price amounted to $951 per ton, dropping by -28.1% against the previous year. In general, the export price showed a mild decrease. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2015 when the average export price increased by 10% against the previous year. The export price peaked at $1,480 per ton in 2020; however, from 2021 to 2022, the export prices failed to regain momentum.

There were significant differences in the average prices for the major foreign markets. In 2022, amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was the Netherlands ($1,163 per ton), while the average price for exports to Russia ($731 per ton) was amongst the lowest.

From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to the Netherlands (+1.1%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.

Mandarin and Clementine Price in Uruguay (CIF) - 2022

The average mandarin and clementine import price stood at $735 per ton in 2022, surging by 6.9% against the previous year. Overall, the import price, however, recorded a pronounced descent. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2015 an increase of 151%. The import price peaked at $1,284 per ton in 2013; however, from 2014 to 2022, import prices stood at a somewhat lower figure.

Prices varied noticeably by country of origin: amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was Spain ($929 per ton), while the price for Brazil ($467 per ton) was amongst the lowest.

From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Argentina (+3.9%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced a decline.

Mandarin and Clementine Exports in Uruguay

In 2022, after three years of growth, there was significant decline in shipments abroad of tangerines, mandarins, clementines, satsumas, when their volume decreased by -21.7% to 37K tons. The total export volume increased at an average annual rate of +3.6% over the period from 2019 to 2022; however, the trend pattern indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2021 with an increase of 29% against the previous year. As a result, the exports reached the peak of 47K tons, and then dropped rapidly in the following year.

In value terms, mandarin and clementine exports contracted rapidly to $35M in 2022. Overall, exports continue to indicate a abrupt curtailment. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2021 when exports increased by 15%. As a result, the exports attained the peak of $62M, and then plummeted in the following year.
