MDF Price in Slovenia (FOB) - 2022
In 2022, the average MDF export price amounted to $556 per cubic meter, increasing by 36% against the previous year. In general, export price indicated a measured increase from 2012 to 2022: its price increased at an average annual rate of +3.4% over the last decade. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, MDF export price increased by +69.1% against 2019 indices. As a result, the export price attained the peak level and is likely to continue growth in the immediate term.
Average prices varied somewhat for the major overseas markets. In 2022, amid the top suppliers, the countries with the highest prices were Greece ($651 per cubic meter) and Israel ($644 per cubic meter), while the average price for exports to Bosnia and Herzegovina ($515 per cubic meter) and Austria ($534 per cubic meter) were amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Israel (+6.9%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.
MDF Price in Slovenia (CIF) - 2023
In September 2023, the average MDF import price amounted to $691 per cubic meter, dropping by -23.4% against the previous month. In general, the import price showed a slight curtailment. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in December 2022 when the average import price increased by 17% month-to-month. The import price peaked at $902 per cubic meter in August 2023, and then fell dramatically in the following month.
Prices varied noticeably by the country of origin: the country with the highest price was Austria ($1,391 per cubic meter), while the price for Italy ($474 per cubic meter) was amongst the lowest.
From September 2022 to September 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by the Netherlands (+2.9%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced more modest paces of growth.
MDF Exports in Slovenia
In 2022, approx. 147K cubic meters of MDF were exported from Slovenia; waning by -12.4% against 2021 figures. Overall, exports showed a slight contraction. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2021 with an increase of 20% against the previous year. As a result, the exports attained the peak of 168K cubic meters, and then shrank in the following year.
In value terms, MDF exports skyrocketed to $82M in 2022. In general, total exports indicated a strong increase from 2019 to 2022: its value increased at an average annual rate of +17.6% over the last three-year period. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, exports increased by +72.3% against 2020 indices. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2021 when exports increased by 45%. Over the period under review, the exports hit record highs in 2022 and are expected to retain growth in the near future.

MDF Imports in Slovenia
