Germany Ranked First Globally in Fiberboard Exports in 2014

Germany continued its dominance in the global fiberboard trade. In 2014, Germany exported 2,262 thousand tonnes of fiberboard totaling 1,948 million USD, 1% over the previous year. Its primary trading partner was France, where it supplied 10% of its total fiberboard exports in value terms, accounting for 41% of France's total imports.

Overall, the global fiberboard trade reached 10,306 million USD, with a CAGR of 1% from 2007 to 2014. In physical terms, it increased from 11,480 thousand tonnes in 2007 to 17,031 thousand tonnes in 2014.

In 2014, the U.S. (11%), the United Kingdom (5%), France (5%), Canada (5%) and Germany (5%) were the leading destinations of fiberboard imports, together making up 31% of global imports. The share of the United Kingdom increased (+5 percentage points), while the share of the U.S. illustrated negative dynamics (-4 percentage points).

China and Belgium were among the other main global suppliers of fiberboard in 2014 with a combined share of 22% of global exports. However, the fastest growing exporters from 2007 to 2014 were Thailand (+12% per year) and China (+6% per year). China strengthened its position in the global export structure, from 11% in 2007 to 16% in 2014.
