From 2007 to 2020, the average annual growth rate of volume in China totaled +X%. The remaining producing countries recorded the following average annual rates of production growth: Brazil (+X% per year) and Turkey (+X% per year).

In 2020, shipments abroad of mdf decreased by -X% to X cubic meters, falling for the second consecutive year after three years of growth. In general, total exports indicated temperate growth from 2007 to 2020: its volume increased at an average annual rate of +X% over the last thirteen years. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2020 figures, exports decreased by -X% against 2018 indices. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2008 with an increase of X% year-to-year. Global exports peaked at X cubic meters in 2018; however, from 2019 to 2020, exports remained at a lower figure.

The total export value increased at an average annual rate of +X% over the period from 2007 to 2020; however, the trend pattern indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2011 when exports increased by X% y-o-y. Global exports peaked at $X in 2018; however, from 2019 to 2020, exports failed to regain the momentum.

Exports by Country

The shipments of the three major exporters of mdf, namely Thailand, Germany and China, represented more than third of total export. It was distantly followed by Belgium (X cubic meters), making up a X% share of total exports. The following exporters - Russia (X cubic meters), Chile (X cubic meters), Poland (X cubic meters), Canada (X cubic meters), Spain (X cubic meters), Romania (X cubic meters), New Zealand (X cubic meters), Belarus (X cubic meters) and Austria (X cubic meters) - together made up X% of total exports.

From 2007 to 2020, the biggest increases were in Belarus, while shipments for the other global leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

These countries were followed by Thailand, Chile, Austria, Spain, Canada, Poland, Russia, New Zealand, Romania and Belarus, which together accounted for a further X recorded the highest growth rate of the value of exports, in terms of the main exporting countries over the period under review, while shipments for the other global leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

Export Prices by Country

The average mdf export price stood at $X per cubic meter in 2020, with a decrease of -X% against the previous year. Overall, the export price showed a mild shrinkage. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2013 an increase of X% y-o-y. Over the period under review, average export prices hit record highs at $X per cubic meter in 2007; however, from 2008 to 2020, export prices failed to regain the momentum.

There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major exporting countries. In 2020, the country with the highest price was Belgium ($X per cubic meter), while Belarus ($X per cubic meter) was amongst the lowest.

From 2007 to 2020, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Chile, while the other global leaders experienced mixed trends in the export price figures.

In general, total imports indicated pronounced growth from 2007 to 2020: its volume increased at an average annual rate of +X% over the last thirteen-year period. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2020 figures, imports increased by +X% against 2007 indices. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2010 when imports increased by X% against the previous year. Over the period under review, global imports hit record highs in 2020 and are likely to continue growth in the near future.

In value terms, mdf imports declined to $X in 2020. The total import value increased at an average annual rate of +X% over the period from 2007 to 2020; however, the trend pattern indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. The U.S. was also the fastest-growing in terms of the mdf imports, with a CAGR of +X% from 2007 to 2020. At the same time, Egypt (+X%), Saudi Arabia (+X%), Canada (+X%), the Netherlands (+X%), Italy (+X%), Ukraine (+X%), the United Arab Emirates (+X%), France (+X%), Poland (+X%) and Germany (+X%) displayed positive paces of growth. The UK and Japan experienced a relatively flat trend pattern. The shares of the other countries remained relatively stable throughout the analyzed period.
