Mango and Mangosteen Price in the United States (CIF) - 2022

In 2022, the average mango and mangosteen import price amounted to $1,281 per ton, surging by 2% against the previous year. Over the period from 2012 to 2022, it increased at an average annual rate of +1.3%. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2014 when the average import price increased by 11%. The import price peaked at $1,340 per ton in 2015; afterwards, it flattened through to 2022.

Prices varied noticeably by country of origin: amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was Haiti ($1,394 per ton), while the price for Guatemala ($737 per ton) was amongst the lowest.

From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Mexico (+2.9%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced a decline.

Mango and Mangosteen Price in the United States (FOB) - 2023

The average mango and mangosteen export price stood at $2,652 per ton in September 2023, jumping by 53% against the previous month. In general, the export price showed a relatively flat trend pattern. The export price peaked at $2,699 per ton in October 2022; afterwards, it flattened through to September 2023.

Prices varied noticeably by the country of destination: the country with the highest price was Mexico ($4,448 per ton), while the average price for exports to the UK ($1,125 per ton) was amongst the lowest.

From September 2022 to September 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Canada (+0.2%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.

Mango and Mangosteen Imports in the United States

For the fourth consecutive year, the United States recorded growth in purchases abroad of mangoes, mangosteens and guavas, which increased by 3.3% to 607K tons in 2022. The total import volume increased at an average annual rate of +5.4% over the period from 2019 to 2022; the trend pattern remained consistent, with somewhat noticeable fluctuations being recorded in certain years. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2020 when imports increased by 10%. Over the period under review, imports attained the maximum in 2022 and are expected to retain growth in years to come.

In value terms, mango and mangosteen imports rose notably to $778M in 2022. The total import value increased at an average annual rate of +5.7% from 2019 to 2022; the trend pattern remained relatively stable, with only minor fluctuations in certain years. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2021 with an increase of 13% against the previous year. Imports peaked in 2022 and are expected to retain growth in the immediate term.

Mango and Mangosteen Exports in the United States

In 2022, shipments abroad of mangoes, mangosteens and guavas decreased by -18.2% to 23K tons, falling for the second consecutive year after two years of growth. Overall, exports saw a deep contraction. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2020 when exports increased by 1.6%. As a result, the exports attained the peak of 29K tons. From 2021 to 2022, the growth of the exports remained at a somewhat lower figure.

In value terms, mango and mangosteen exports declined to $51M in 2022. In general, exports saw a relatively flat trend pattern. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2021 when exports increased by 12%. As a result, the exports attained the peak of $57M, and then shrank in the following year.
