Mandarins Price in the UK (CIF) - 2023

In June 2023, the average mandarins import price amounted to $1,131 per ton, shrinking by -21.9% against the previous month. In general, the import price continues to indicate a relatively flat trend pattern. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in April 2023 when the average import price increased by 19% m-o-m. As a result, import price attained the peak level of $1,582 per ton. From May 2023 to June 2023, the average import prices failed to regain momentum.

There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major supplying countries. In June 2023, the country with the highest price was Spain ($1,957 per ton), while the price for Egypt ($491 per ton) was amongst the lowest.

From June 2022 to June 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Spain (+2.0%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced mixed trend patterns.

In 2022, the average mandarins export price amounted to $1,230 per ton, remaining constant against the previous year. Overall, the export price saw a pronounced decrease. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2021 an increase of 13%. Over the period under review, the average export prices hit record highs at $1,573 per ton in 2017; however, from 2018 to 2022, the export prices failed to regain momentum.

Prices varied noticeably by country of destination: amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Germany ($1,626 per ton), while the average price for exports to Greece ($546 per ton) was amongst the lowest.

From 2017 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Germany (-0.9%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced a decline.

In 2022, the amount of fruit, edible imported into the UK surged to 177K tons, increasing by 17% against the year before. The total import volume increased at an average annual rate of +6.0% over the period from 2019 to 2022; the trend pattern remained consistent, with only minor fluctuations being observed in certain years. As a result, imports attained the peak and are likely to continue growth in the immediate term.

In value terms, mandarins imports soared to $232M in 2022. The total import value increased at an average annual rate of +7.1% from 2019 to 2022; the trend pattern remained consistent, with only minor fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period.
