Mandarins Price in Singapore (CIF) - 2022

In September 2022, the average mandarins import price amounted to $1,834 per ton, declining by -9.6% against the previous month. Overall, import price indicated a tangible expansion from September 2021 to September 2022: its price increased at an average monthly rate of +2.4% over the last twelve months. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on September 2022 figures, mandarins import price decreased by -21.2% against May 2022 indices. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in January 2022 an increase of 42% against the previous month. Over the period under review, average import prices attained the peak figure at $2,327 per ton in May 2022; however, from June 2022 to September 2022, import prices stood at a somewhat lower figure.

Prices varied noticeably by the country of origin: the country with the highest price was Australia ($2,008 per ton), while the price for China ($1,260 per ton) was amongst the lowest.

From September 2021 to September 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Taiwan (Chinese) (+10.5%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced more modest paces of growth.

In September 2022, the average mandarins export price amounted to $1,741 per ton, reducing by -4.7% against the previous month. Over the period under review, export price indicated a tangible increase from September 2021 to September 2022: its price increased at an average monthly rate of +2.7% over the last twelve months. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on September 2022 figures, mandarins export price decreased by -21.7% against June 2022 indices. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in January 2022 when the average export price increased by 51% against the previous month. The export price peaked at $2,225 per ton in June 2022; however, from July 2022 to September 2022, the export prices stood at a somewhat lower figure.

There were significant differences in the average prices for the major foreign markets. In September 2022, the country with the highest price was Brunei Darussalam ($2,724 per ton), while the average price for exports to Indonesia ($1,564 per ton) was amongst the lowest.

From September 2021 to September 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Malaysia (+4.1%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.

Mandarins Imports in Singapore

Mandarins imports into Singapore dropped markedly to 20K tons in 2022, which is down by -15.2% compared with 2021. In general, imports showed a noticeable contraction. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2021 with an increase of 44%. As a result, imports attained the peak of 23K tons, and then shrank sharply in the following year.

In value terms, mandarins imports shrank remarkably to $27M in 2022. The total import value increased at an average annual rate of +2.1% over the period from 2019 to 2022; however, the trend pattern indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded in certain years. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2021 with an increase of 49%. As a result, imports reached the peak of $33M, and then fell notably in the following year.

Mandarins exports from Singapore declined sharply to 1.7K tons in 2022, reducing by -21.9% against the previous year's figure. In general, total exports indicated a noticeable increase from 2019 to 2022: its volume increased at an average annual rate of +2.3% over the last three years. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, exports increased by +38.9% against 2020 indices. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2021 when exports increased by 78% against the previous year. As a result, the exports attained the peak of 2.2K tons, and then reduced sharply in the following year.

In value terms, mandarins exports shrank rapidly to $2.3M in 2022. Overall, total exports indicated a resilient increase from 2019 to 2022: its value increased at an average annual rate of +7.6% over the last three-year period. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, exports increased by +40.6% against 2020 indices. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2021 with an increase of 81% against the previous year. As a result, the exports reached the peak of $2.9M, and then declined notably in the following year.
