In 2022, the average mandarins import price amounted to $452 per ton, waning by -9.1% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the import price continues to indicate a pronounced slump. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2021 when the average import price increased by 21%. The import price peaked at $897 per ton in 2017; however, from 2018 to 2022, import prices stood at a somewhat lower figure.
There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major supplying countries. In 2022, amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was Australia ($1,649 per ton), while the price for China ($382 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Australia (+9.9%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced more modest paces of growth.
Mandarins Imports in Myanmar
In 2022, the amount of fruit, edible imported into Myanmar expanded remarkably to 130 tons, with an increase of 5% against the previous year's figure. The total import volume increased at an average annual rate of +1.8% from 2019 to 2022; the trend pattern remained consistent, with somewhat noticeable fluctuations being observed in certain years. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2020 when imports increased by 11%. As a result, imports attained the peak of 136 tons. From 2021 to 2022, the growth of imports remained at a somewhat lower figure.
In value terms, mandarins imports reduced modestly to $59K in 2022. Over the period under review, imports, however, showed a perceptible decrease. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2021 with an increase of 10%.
