In December 2021, the average mandarins import price amounted to $1,153 per ton, rising by 17% against the previous month. Over the last twelve-month period, it increased at an average monthly rate of +2.7%. The growth pace was the most rapid in March 2021 when the average import price increased by 18% against the previous month. Over the period under review, average import prices reached the peak figure in December 2021.
There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major supplying countries. In December 2021, the country with the highest price was China ($1,173 per ton), while the price for Thailand ($454 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From December 2020 to December 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by South Africa (+2.6%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced more modest paces of growth.
