The average lemon and lime import price stood at $1,311 per ton in 2022, surging by 9.6% against the previous year. Overall, import price indicated a tangible expansion from 2012 to 2022: its price increased at an average annual rate of +3.7% over the last decade. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, lemon and lime import price increased by +66.3% against 2019 indices. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2020 when the average import price increased by 57%. Over the period under review, average import prices attained the peak figure in 2022 and is expected to retain growth in the immediate term.
Average prices varied noticeably amongst the major supplying countries. In 2022, amid the top importers, the highest price was recorded for prices from Argentina ($1,311 per ton) and South Africa ($1,311 per ton), while the price for Palestine ($1,311 per ton) and Egypt ($1,311 per ton) were amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Lebanon (+8.4%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced more modest paces of growth.
