Lemon and Lime Price in Argentina (FOB) - 2022
The average lemon and lime export price stood at $623 per ton in 2022, with a decrease of -4.9% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the export price saw a perceptible slump. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2014 an increase of 33% against the previous year. The export price peaked at $1,169 per ton in 2016; however, from 2017 to 2022, the export prices stood at a somewhat lower figure.
Average prices varied noticeably for the major export markets. In 2022, amid the top suppliers, the highest price was recorded for prices to France ($699 per ton) and the United States ($652 per ton), while the average price for exports to Russia ($590 per ton) and Greece ($592 per ton) were amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Canada (-1.6%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced a decline.

The average lemon and lime import price stood at $690 per ton in June 2023, waning by -9.3% against the previous month. Over the period under review, the import price, however, continues to indicate a relatively flat trend pattern. The growth pace was the most rapid in September 2022 an increase of 32% against the previous month. The import price peaked at $1,116 per ton in October 2022; however, from November 2022 to June 2023, import prices stood at a somewhat lower figure.
As there is only one major supplying country, the average price level is determined by prices for Brazil.
From June 2022 to June 2023, the rate of growth in terms of prices for Brazil amounted to +0.3% per month.
Lemon and Lime Exports in Argentina
In 2022, after three years of growth, there was decline in overseas shipments of lemons and limes, when their volume decreased by -0.5% to 255K tons. The total export volume increased at an average annual rate of +3.3% from 2019 to 2022; the trend pattern remained consistent, with only minor fluctuations in certain years. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2020 when exports increased by 10% against the previous year.
In value terms, lemon and lime exports declined to $159M in 2022. In general, exports continue to indicate a perceptible descent. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2020 with an increase of 1.6%. As a result, the exports reached the peak of $184M. From 2021 to 2022, the growth of the exports failed to regain momentum.
