Ghee Price in Turkey (CIF) - 2022
In 2022, the average ghee import price amounted to $6,098 per ton, with a decrease of -5.2% against the previous year. In general, import price indicated a modest expansion from 2012 to 2022: its price increased at an average annual rate of +1.4% over the last decade. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, ghee import price increased by +72.7% against 2015 indices. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2019 an increase of 51%. Over the period under review, average import prices hit record highs at $6,435 per ton in 2021, and then shrank in the following year.
Prices varied noticeably by country of origin: amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was Germany ($7,849 per ton), while the price for New Zealand ($3,000 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Switzerland (+11.3%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced more modest paces of growth.
Ghee Price in Turkey (FOB) - 2022
The average ghee export price stood at $6,348 per ton in 2022, picking up by 13% against the previous year. Over the period under review, export price indicated a moderate increase from 2012 to 2022: its price increased at an average annual rate of +2.2% over the last decade. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2017 an increase of 52% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the average export prices hit record highs at $7,767 per ton in 2019; however, from 2020 to 2022, the export prices failed to regain momentum.
There were significant differences in the average prices for the major external markets. In 2022, amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Kuwait ($8,678 per ton), while the average price for exports to Georgia ($590 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Iran (+19.3%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.
Ghee Imports in Turkey
In 2022, supplies from abroad of ghee decreased by -35.8% to 93 tons, falling for the second year in a row after two years of growth. In general, imports, however, enjoyed a prominent expansion. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2020 with an increase of 264%. As a result, imports reached the peak of 263 tons. From 2021 to 2022, the growth of imports remained at a lower figure.
In value terms, ghee imports dropped notably to $567K in 2022. Over the period under review, imports, however, posted buoyant growth. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2020 when imports increased by 226%. As a result, imports attained the peak of $1.4M. From 2021 to 2022, the growth of imports failed to regain momentum.
