Butter Market Size in Turkey

The revenue of the butter market in Turkey amounted to $X in 2018, coming down by -X% against the previous year. In general, butter consumption continues to indicate a resilient expansion. In value terms, Cyprus ($X), Ukraine ($X) and Iraq ($X) constituted the largest markets for butter exported from Turkey worldwide, with a combined X% share of total exports. Georgia, the United Arab Emirates, the U.S., Gambia, Azerbaijan, Egypt, Macedonia, Ghana and Oman lagged somewhat behind, together accounting for a further X terms of the main countries of destination, Ghana experienced the highest rates of growth with regard to exports, over the last eleven years, while the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

Export Prices by Country

The average butter export price stood at $X per tonne in 2018, approximately mirroring the previous year. Over the period under review, the butter export price continues to indicate a relatively flat trend pattern. Over the period under review, the average export prices for butter attained their peak figure in 2018 and is likely to continue its growth in the immediate term.

Prices varied noticeably by the country of destination; the country with the highest price was the United Arab Emirates ($X per tonne), while the average price for exports to Ghana ($X per tonne) was amongst the lowest.

From 2007 to 2018, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Ghana, while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.

Imports into Turkey

In 2018, approx. X tonnes of butter were imported into Turkey; growing by X% against the previous year. In general, butter imports continue to indicate a resilient increase. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2009 with an increase of X% against the previous year. Imports peaked at X tonnes in 2014; however, from 2015 to 2018, imports remained at a lower figure.

The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2008 with an increase of X% y-o-y. Over the period under review, butter imports attained their peak figure at $X in 2014; however, from 2015 to 2018, imports stood at a somewhat lower figure.

Imports by Country

Ukraine (X tonnes), Israel (X tonnes) and Ireland (X tonnes) were the main suppliers of butter imports to Turkey, with a combined X% share of total imports. Norway, New Zealand, Spain, Argentina, Belgium, Switzerland, India and Uruguay lagged somewhat behind, together accounting for a further X 2007 to 2018, the most notable rate of growth in terms of imports, amongst the main suppliers, was attained by Norway, while the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

In value terms, Ukraine ($X), Ireland ($X) and Israel ($X) constituted the largest butter suppliers to Turkey, with a combined X% share of total imports. Argentina, Norway, Spain, New Zealand, Belgium, Switzerland, Uruguay and India lagged somewhat behind, together accounting for a further X recorded the highest rates of growth with regard to imports, in terms of the main suppliers over the last eleven-year period, while the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

Import Prices by Country

In 2018, the average butter import price amounted to $X per tonne, approximately mirroring the previous year. In general, the import price indicated a noticeable increase from 2007 to 2018: its price increased at an average annual rate of +X% over the last eleven years. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2018 figures, butter import price increased by +X% against 2016 indices. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2010 an increase of X% year-to-year. Over the period under review, the average import prices for butter reached their maximum at $X per tonne in 2011; however, from 2012 to 2018, import prices stood at a somewhat lower figure.

There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major supplying countries. In 2018, the country with the highest price was Argentina ($X per tonne), while the price for Israel ($X per tonne) was amongst the lowest.

From 2007 to 2018, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Argentina, while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced more modest paces of growth.
